Personal Protective Equipment against Falls from Height (PPEgA) – Basic Course
Including Basic Rescue from Height
Target Audience
Individuals who work at height, as well as their supervisors.
Training Objective
Participants learn how to use personal protective equipment against falls from height (PPEgA) correctly and safely. They also acquire the skills necessary to perform a basic rescue of an injured person.
Course Content
- Legal basis for PPEgA
- Knowledge of all basic components of PPEgA
- (functions, advantages, limitations)
- Correct use of PPEgA
- (donning, adjusting, applying)
- Proper handling, storage, and inspection of PPEgA
- Testing and product standards
- (PPE Regulation, European standards, CE marking)
- Importance of self-rescue
- (suspension trauma)
- Practical self-tests: jumping, pendulum fall, impact force, etc.
- Rescue of an injured person – scenario-based training
Note
This training is mandatory according to VUV Art. 8. Employers may only assign tasks involving special hazards to employees who have received appropriate training.

- Max. 8 participants per course
- Travel expenses will be added for courses conducted outside Basel.
Materials: Existing PPEgA should be brought. Missing PPEgA will be provided.
The course structure complies with Suva guidelines and has been reviewed accordingly.
