Chain Magnet Testing Procedure
After completing the MT1 course and successfully passing the MT1 tester examination administered by the Swiss Society for Non-Destructive Testing, we can now test your chains using our new mobile chain testing device in accordance with BGR 500, Section 3.15.2.
(BGR 500 3.15.2)
3.15.2
Regular Inspections
3.15.2.1
The employer must ensure that load-bearing equipment is inspected by a qualified person at intervals of no more than one year.
Depending on the operating conditions of the load-bearing equipment, inspections may be required at shorter intervals than one year. This applies, for example, to particularly frequent use, increased wear, corrosion, exposure to heat, or if increased susceptibility to malfunctions is anticipated.
3.15.2.2
The employer must ensure that round steel chains used as lifting gear are subjected to a special inspection for cracks at intervals of no more than three years.
The inspection can be carried out, for example, using a non-destructive testing method.
