For rescuing people during rescue operations or for preventative fall protection during difficult work at heights, safety measures are essential. Simply roping up is not as effective at preventing injuries as professional fall arrest and rescue lifting devices (HSRG).
These devices not only facilitate rescue but also typically feature effective fall arrest, which is crucial for preventing injuries. For easier rescue, a so-called extension arm is now commonly used. These boom arms, also known as personnel hoists, can be permanently installed for general fall protection during recurring use or deployed as needed. Typical applications for fall protection include silos and other elevated structures commonly found in factories and industrial facilities.
Professional fall protection is essential when maintaining or repairing such structures. The PHK II-S (steel version) and PHK II-E (stainless steel version – manufactured from the highest quality stainless steel available on the market: V4A / X6CrNiMoTi17-12-2 / 1.4571) are two sophisticated devices available for these tasks. Both boom arms are designed for use with a single HSRG (heavy lifting crane) and are certified for personnel and fall protection according to EN 795 A and CEN TS 16415 by TÜV Munich, and are therefore approved for use by three people.
EXTENSION ARM FOR PEOPLE AND LOADS
The PHK II-S personnel lifting crane is a versatile device for fall protection and rescue operations, as well as for lifting loads. This extension arm is characterized by its ease of use and versatility.
It is compatible with fall arrest and rescue lifting devices (HSRG) via the “Easy” mounting bracket, making it an approved anchor point. This eliminates the need for additional safety and rescue equipment.
Easy assembly and a well-designed operating concept, including a smooth-running load winch, simplify the handling of this extension arm.
The four-stage height adjustment has proven its worth in practice, as has the modular design, which allows for quick assembly and disassembly of the extension arm within minutes.
THE SPECIALIST: PHK II-E AS AN OUTLOOK FOR CHALLENGING ENVIRONMENTS
The PHK II-E personnel crane is a specialized outreach arm designed for fall protection and personnel rescue, even in challenging environments. Made from high-quality V4A stainless steel, this outreach arm is ideal for use in sensitive areas such as the food industry, refineries, and waste disposal facilities. Its high corrosion resistance allows for use in damp environments and even in offshore applications. This outreach arm is also frequently used as a safety and rescue device on wind turbines.
Naturally, the PHK II-E can also be used for lifting and lowering loads. The “Easy” mounting bracket makes the PHK II-E compatible with HSRG and load winches, and its 3-position adjustable tilt angle ensures easy swiveling and operation under all conditions. Thanks to a special central bearing of the upright, the crane can be easily swiveled 360° even under full load and locked at any time.
CORRECT ATTACHMENT OF ANCHORING POINTS
To serve as anchor points for securing or rescuing people and for the safe lifting or lowering of loads, outrigger arms must, of course, be attached to suitable supports.
To offer maximum flexibility, outrigger arm supports are available in various designs. Depending on the model, wall supports (e.g., for mounting on concrete walls) or floor supports are available.
The latter are offered for surface mounting or for embedding the outrigger arm support in concrete. Depending on the application, supports are available in steel or stainless steel and are supplied with structurally designed connecting elements.
We would be happy to carry out the annual inspection for you on-site!
